Most of Butrint remains buried under weeds, water and centuries-old silt, making the site one of Mediterranean archaeology’s diamonds-in-the-rough. Still, there is much to see, including a spectacular amphitheater, Greek and Roman temples, and a fourth-century A.D. baptistry with colorful mosaics.
