Angkor Wat lies within an enclosure (defined by the low wall visible before the tree line at the top of the photo) in a large precinct surrounded by a moat. The temple’s western entrance, partially visible at bottom left, leads up to the first terrace. Another set of walls with corner towers encloses the second terrace, and the third terrace is marked by four corner towers surrounding the high central tower.
