The Vatican cemetery in relation to the basilica church built by Constantine. The shaded area indicates Constantinian foundations and partition walls. The Roman road through the cemetery can be seen at lower left. The Aedicula marking the tomb of St. Peter is in the center of the line which would extend from one side of the apse to the other. It is directly behind the letter P. The plan places the basilica of Constantine within the present Church of St. Peter.
