This chord-shaped stone is 3 feet high and 16 feet long. It was found 600 feet from the southern end of the Rabbinical Tunnel. The side of the stone on the right, facing the western Temple Mount wall, is smoothly curved while the opposite side flat. According to Murray Stein’s theory explaining how the megaliths were transported, this chord is part of one of the three or four identical pieces cut from a cylinder to make a rectangular ashlar, after the cylinder had been rolled into position at the western wall. A partially-full water cistern was discovered below the tunnel’s floor at the north end of the stone next to the workman in the background.
