A spa to rival the great thermae of Rome and Alexandria, Hammat Gader boasted seven different pools, as well as connecting halls and walkways, all built on the grandest of scales. Here, an artist has recreated the Hammat Gader thermae as they probably looked about 1,400 years ago. Much of the site has been excavated and restored (see photograph).
