Har Karkom emerges front the rocky terrain of the Negev Desert and rises to a height of 2,800 feet above sea level. The mountain stands at the center of an enormous concentration of rock art, as well as at the center of a vigorous controversy. Archaeologist Emmanuel Anati identifies the mountain as Mt. Sinai, but archaeologist Israel Finkelstein, an authority on the Israelite Settlement, says the claim should be ignored.
