The Land of Geshur Archaeological Project

Small but well-watered (thanks to the presence of several springs), the less-than-one-acre site of Tel Soreg (mound at left center) was first inhabited during the Intermediate Bronze Age (2200–2000 B.C.E.; the period is called Early Bronze IV by some). The earliest settlers built huts on the white limestone rock; for further protection during the winter, they carved caves into the rock.
