Recent excavations of Caesarea are revealing the full extent and sumptuousness Herod’s palace and are bringing to light Caesarea’s post-Herodian history. Among the most important finds are two inscribed columns, discovered on the east side of the Promontory Palace. Each column bears three inscriptions; of the six, five are in Latin and one is in Greek. The inscriptions date from the second to the early fourth centuries C.E.
