The Wilderness of Judah seems an unlikely place to find six cities, but that is where the allotment to Judah in Joshua 15:61-62 locates them. Despite its aridity, this 50-mile-long rectangle of mountains on the western side of the Dead Sea supported many settlements during the Iron II period.
