Qumran caves: The caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered dot the landscape near Qumran. A number of the caves cluster in the immediate vicinity of the Qumran ruins, of which the most important is Cave 4. Other caves lie as far as one and a quarter miles north of the site. The famous Copper Scroll was discovered in Cave 3, and the Psalm Scroll and the Temple Scroll were found in Cave 11. The original seven intact scrolls were discovered in Cave 1 by Bedouin.
