Unlike those of Wilson’s arch, the springers in Robinson’s Arch, along the southern end of the western wall, fit cleanly into their neighboring wall blocks because they were built at the same time. Robinson’s Arch supported a monumental stairway that connected the Herodian street alongside the western wall with the Royal Stoa, a magnificent colonnaded structure atop the southern end of the Temple Mount.
