Ben Zion Wacholder, Martin Abegg’s graduate school mentor at Hebrew Union College, shared Abegg’s early interest in the unpublished Dead Sea Scrolls. It was Wacholder who approached Harvard professor John Strugnell to ask for a copy of the Dead Sea Scrolls concordance.
