An Egyptian inscription was discovered in the destruction layer of the podium complex. Late Bronze Age Hazor was destroyed by a massive fire in the 13th century B.C.E. The hieroglyphs that survived record the title of an important Egyptian official, perhaps an adviser to Ramesses II (13th century B.C.E.) who visited Hazor.
