The golden cobra from Ekron faces off against the Uraeus from the funeral mask of Pharaoh Psusennes I (1039–991 B.C.E.). The Nechushtan, the apotropaic snake created by Moses, was similar to the Egyptian Uraeus, but then disappeared from iconography during the reign of Hezekiah (“The Mystery of the Nechushtan,”).
