Father Józef T. Milik—who later left the priesthood and married—was a brilliant scholar who was given an overwhelming allotment of scroll fragments to edit and publish. The resulting delay in his publications—more than 30 years in some cases—led to the eventual reassignment of his fragments, leaving him bitter and isolated.
