The most intriguing feature of the ‘Ain Dara temple, however, is the set of giant footprints impressed on the thresholds of the sanctuary. The size of the feet and the space between the imprints suggest a being more than 65 feet tall striding into the temple. These most likely represent the presence of the deity in his sanctuary, much as God is described in the future temple of Ezekiel’s vision (Ezekiel 43:7, 9:3, 10:18). The ‘Ain Dara temple was the home of the temple’s god just as the Israelite Temple was.
