BACK TO TAYINAT. In 2008, another Iron Age temple was discovered at Tell Tayinat, just around the corner from the already-excavated temple. This one, too, is a long-room temple divided into three sections with a large column base at the entrance. Although the excavators don’t yet know when this “Tayinat 2” temple was built, it remained in use until the late eighth or early seventh century B.C.E.
