REMAINS OF A CURSE. Only one-and-a-half letters survive from the end of an inscription that probably once included 20 letters over the entrance to the Tomb of Pharaoh’s Daughter. Each letter appears to be a resh, suggesting that the inscription included the Hebrew word “cursed.” A curse formula warning potential intruders against disturbing the tomb was a common inscription on tombs, yet the astounding size of these letters (5 in high) makes this the largest known Hebrew inscription from the time of the Hebrew Bible.
