GLITTERING GOLD. Recovered by Eilat Mazar’s excavation at the southern wall of the Temple Mount, this 4-inch gold medallion features a menorah flanked by a shofar (ram’s horn) and a Torah scroll. It dates to the seventh century. The Hebrew University excavation was funded by Daniel Mintz and Meredith Berkman of New York.
