THE DAILY GRIND. Modestly covering her hair with a cloth, a woman reproduces the process of making flour using stones recovered from the ninth-century B.C.E. level at Tel Rehov in Israel’s Beth-Shean Valley. The upper stone is rubbed over the quern (the lower stone) to produce the flour.
