HATRA TEMPLE. Dedicatory inscriptions, requesting to be remembered favorably in front of a god, have also been found at Hatra in modern Iraq. The Iraqi expedition directed by Fuad Safar reconstructed some of the buildings at Hatra, such as the so-called Hellenistic Temple (or Temple E). This temple helps us envision how places of worship would have looked during the Hellenistic period. This photo was taken in 2013; unfortunately, the structure has suffered damage since then.
