KING TUT’S UNFINISHED WORK. When Tutankhamun (“King Tut”) died, the majority of his building projects came to a halt, including the decoration of the Processional Colonnade at Luxor Temple. Although the scenes for the colonnade were all planned during Tut’s reign, many were left unfinished after his death. Horemheb, who became pharaoh four years after Tut’s death, usurped many of Tut’s scenes as his own. But it was not until several decades later that Seti I completed all the unfinished scenes. This relief—begun during Tut’s reign and completed by Horemheb—depicts the barks (sailing vessels) of the Egyptian gods Mut and Khonsu at Karnak Temple.
