QEIYAFA OSTRACON. Found at the site of Khirbet Qeiyafa in Judah, the Qeiyafa Ostracon has five lines of text and dates to c. 1000 B.C.E. Written with ink on a 6-by-6-inch piece of pottery, the inscription is a late example of the Proto-Sinaitic (“Early Canaanite”) script. Although the inscription mentions the words “king,” “servant,” and “judge,” there is no clear consensus about its meaning.
