CUT OUT OF THE NATURAL ROCK, the Tomb of the Kings consists of a monumental staircase, a spacious courtyard, and a maze of underground chambers for up to 50 burials (plan shown here). The tomb’s grand portico is decorated with a beautiful Doric frieze, while only one base remains of the pair of towering Ionic columns that originally guarded its entrance.
