An angry Pharaoh expels Abraham and Sarah from Egypt by saying, “Now then, here is your wife, take her, and be gone” (Genesis 12:19), in the illustration from a 14th-century Bible Historiale. Pharaoh calls the offending party before him after God sends plagues upon Egypt. (In the illumination, the plagues have so sickened Pharaoh he is forced to take to bed.)
