Cyrus H. Gordon (d. 2001) was the Gottesman Professor of Hebraic Studies at New York University. Among his many publications were Ugaritic Textbook (Rome, 1967), Forgotten Scripts: Their Ongoing Discovery and Decipherment (Dorset, 1987) and A Scholar’s Odyssey (Scholar’s Press, 2000).
Frank Moore Cross (d. 2012) wrote more than 200 scholarly articles during his 35 years as the Hancock Professor of Hebrew and Other Oriental Languages at Harvard University, from which he retired in 1992.
